Latest news on the new Leader programme.
The Local Action Group has now completed its new Local Development Strategy and has submitted its bid to Defra to run a new LEADER Programme between 2015 and 2020. The bid process is a competitive one - 87 bids from across the country have been made for a portion of the £138m national budget. See a copy of our new Local Development Strategy - it outlines the priorities and objectives for the new Programme and the key activities which will be the focus of investment.
We should hear by the end of November whether or not our bid has been successful. If it is, a new programme will start in early 2015 and will focus on 6 priority areas for investment:
If you have a project under one of these headings which you would like to discuss please get in contact. We are keen to have a number of applications ready for the LAG to consider early in the new year. Here are some examples from the previous programme of the kinds of projects we will be looking to support:
NWD LEADER 2007-13 Final Progress Report and Case Studies.
We have proposed to extend the boundary for LEADER funding so more villages, farms and woodland will be potentially eligible for funding. The map here shows the proposed LAG area - essentially we are aiming to cover more of West Berkshire and Basingstoke and Deane and a little more of Wiltshire, Swindon Borough and Oxfordshire areas - to include places not previously covered and to align with other Local Action Groups around us.
The final map may look slightly different to this but this will be confirmed once we know the outcome of our bid.
We have a number of places on the Local Action Group to fill. Membership is open to everyone so if you would like to find out more about what's involved please just give us a call. We need representatives for the 6 priority areas so if you have a particular interest in one or more of these and you would like to join the LAG please complete and return the LAG nomination form here: LAG nomination form 2014. The closing date for nominations is Friday 31st October.
